Will Calhoun

Will Calhoun is a two-time Grammy Award–winning drummer, composer, producer, educator, and member of the groundbreaking rock band Living Colour. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has performed and recorded with artists including Harry Belafonte, B.B. King, Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman, Paul Simon, Lauryn Hill, Herb Alpert, Pharoah Sanders, Joe Lovano, and Mick Jagger, among many others. His career has brought him into collaboration with cultural figures ranging from Nelson Mandela to Robert Redford. For more than twenty-five years, Calhoun has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Brazil, Australia, and the Caribbean, researching indigenous drumming traditions and the cultural history of rhythm. An adjunct professor at New York University, he serves on the advisory boards of several arts and educational organizations and teaches internationally. He resides in New York.
