Like Captain Al Farragut—one of the main characters and the narrator of this novel—the author is a retired international airline Captain, who spent more than thirty-six years flying for one of the world’s most famous airlines. He has been flying since his teens and, like Farragut, flew for an air ambulance company after retiring from the airline. He and his wife Dottie lived for nine years in a large retirement community in South Carolina’s Low Country before moving west to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He is also a “prepper” and extremely concerned about the lack of preparedness to deal with the many threats to our country that exist today.
