Blogging New Doctor Who
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:51:22 AM »

Hi everyone,

Forgive this shameless piece of blog promotion, but some of you may be interested. I have stayed out of the Doctor Who thread here because I have a shameful secret. I am a massive Doctor Who fan but I had never gotten around to watching the new series. I decided this had to change, and that I would blog my impressions. Fortunately, as that would have been boring for everyone bar myself, I am not doing it alone but in a conversational format with two of Australian spec fic's leading luminaries.

You can follow along here, and if you do pop by please say hello :-)

Clever idea.  I like it.  And it strikes a good balance between critical and geeky.  :)

Thanks! If you like that idea, I would suggest you (and anyone else reading this) check out Tansy's "A Modern Woman's Guide to Classic Doctor Who", for which she won a very well deserved award last year. Just one of the reason's I was so excited to have a chance to collaborate with her on this.

Fantastic! I will be following.

Thanks, Van...appreciate it! i hope you enjoy it :-)

Hate to seem to be blowing my own horn here, but I am rather excited that this series of posts has been nominated for an award this year in the Aussie version of the Hugos, the Ditmars (not quite as prestigious as the Hugos, of course) and I wanted to share my excitment.

"The William Atheling Jr. Award for Criticism or Review are a Special Category under the Ditmar Awards. "The Athelings", as they are known for short, are awarded for excellence in science fiction and speculative criticism, and were named for the pseudonym used by James Blish for his critical writing."

Check out my blog for details...and read some posts! :-D

Thanks, LA! It's really nice to know that people have been enjoying it enough to nominate it. Plus, our Natcon (each year one of the Aussie conventions is the nominated the national one) this year, where they will presenting the awards, is my home Con which makes it even more exciting!

Hi KNP!

Yes, I subscribe to Doctor Her - Tansy (one of the other people nominated with me) is a regular contributor. Some really fascinating articles there.

Small world, huh? :-)

Christina Ricci really is the new Winona Ryder.

And I'm okay with that.
