I was on a roadtrip today... A nine hour one. My mother and I had to take my aunt who was visiting down to the airport in Salt Lake down in Utah...

I brought Roses and another book.

I finished Roses...

Loved it!

Although I was a bit struck with what happened at the end, with the two people 'close' to Shade. (that's a nudge-nudge-wink-wink there.) I also felt as though it isn't OVER...

Is there a sequel?  ???

I'll get to posting a review on my review blog and Amazon soon; I'll let you know when it's up.

Kody--that's awesome! No official plans for a sequel, but you never know ;)  Can’t wait for your review!

Oh, and by the way: what was the other book you brought? Any good?

I also brought Light Before Day by Christopher Rice. He writes crime/suspense novels, like that. I ended up reading the hundred pages left in Roses I had and then a hundred and fifty in Light Before Day...

So I guess I had a bit of a reading spree today. :D

I had another question, D.L...

Whatever happened to the humans from the beginning? Were they the ones who were down in pit? I ask because they seem to have disappeared after the prologue.

I can't believe I missed this thread! Congrats on the Stoker nod! Yeah it hard to get the total noms to go for the haunted house but I agree with Jacob, there are soooo many peeps out there who never get a rec., so I give you a wink and a bow. (And a kiss just because you really do deserve it.)

Kody, some of those people end up as breeders in the warren.  In fact, you might see some resemblance between Kent and the torso Frank.  Also the boy Payton shows up later.  He’s really the only major character from that beginning batch.

Thanks, Diva!   :-*

Oh, I see... Frank was an 'interesting' character, hehehe. I figured Payton was the boy at the very end.

Ooh, another question. You mentioned omsething about 'Mountain of Corpses' at the very end, and don't you have a story in an anthology coming out with the same kind of idea?

Just curious...

If it kills me, oh well.  ;)

LOL--great eye!  I do have a story called "King of the Mountain of Corpses," to be published in Potter's Field 2.  A character uses that line in Roses: “I am king of the mountain of corpses.”  A creepy line--and a playful nod to people who are paying attention ;)

On TATTOOJAM.com, the tattoo forum I moderate, the following discussion arose - zombies vs vampires. Of course, as you can see, I highlighted DL's novel as a much fuller discussion of this battle:

Roses fans may wish to jump into the discussion, therefore... before it gets out of hand! :puppet:
