Idle question time
« on: July 04, 2011, 09:43:47 PM »

Just wondering for wondering's sake: How come the little "who's online/viewing" tags come in different colours? I'm currently light blue, Matthew and Kody are dark blue, others are red, most are orange. And Zak's green.

I'm assuming it has something to do with ranking?  ???

You're like Aqua.  This ranking means you're a member of the PIT.  Matthew and Kody are dark blue because they have a lot of posts or something.  I think I'm red because I have a decent amount of posts, but not enough to be blue.  Etc. Etc.  I'm guessing on some of these, btw.

you can code by permissions and rank.  The orange is basic.  Blue is the pit but a while back there were issues with logging in for some of us pitters, I know that's how I turned red, somehow teh permissions got messed up.

I think that mine is blue because I'm a moderator, but I'm not sure about that.
I'm guessing that Kody's is blue because he requested that his divinity  stay locked at zero.  I'm even less certain about that one.

I turned red after 2000 posts.  I never did get a color for being in the Pit.

From what we've seen in the past, I think some colors override others.  Depending on what order you hit the given benchmarks (just to add to the confusion).

Damn, this is even more confusing than the jerseys on Star Trek.

... more confusing than the jerseys on Star Trek.

Blue is for sciences, red is for services, green for command-line officers (TOS).  Technically, the department heads (Spock, Scott, McCoy) were in the chain-of-command, but chose their departmental uniforms.  (The command pullover tops looked gold as a result of poor color reproduction--that's why the dress uniforms and Kirk's wrap-around were green.)

In TNG, the scheme is similar:  teal for sciences, gold for services, red for command.

Actually, isn't there a joke in the tribble episode of DS9 about the color switch?  No one can figure out why O'Brien is wearing red.

I think they referred to Scotty as "That security man"

Yeah. The jerseys were green but looked gold, and the pants were dark grey but looked black. Also, Spock's ears were actually clam-shaped and Walter Koenig was actually Davy Jones' long-lost brother.

And whatever you've heard, Kirk did have sexual relations with that alien.
