LORDS OF NIGHT by Thom Brannan coming to Permuted Press
« on: April 26, 2011, 10:25:42 PM »

The Ancient Enemy has risen from the depths of time and turned the world into a darkened and desolate place. The last outposts of humanity are hidden in the sewers, guarding against patrolling hordes of walking dead and their overseers, the sadistic and inhuman Locust People.

Struggling to survive in a New York sewer enclave is Jack. But he has an edge: a growing growing psychic power he uses to fight the Enemy's lieutenants.  With the world at stake, Jack and a team of ex-Special Forces operatives set off on a quest to find an artifact from the dawn of time that will put an end to the Ancient Enemy's reign and restore the world. But what will Jack have to become to defeat an evil older than Mankind?

(this part's weird, the talking about yourself in third person.)

Thom Brannan is a freelance editor for Permuted and co-author of Survivors, the long-awaited third book in Z.A. Recht's Morningstar Saga. See his on-going serial at Dark Tomorrow, as well as links to find his other work.

Super-secret?

Sounds great whether it is the secret or not.

Locust people?

Quote
The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.  Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.  They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.  They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.  They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).

What was the process for choosing who finalized ZA's series?

What was the process for choosing who finalized ZA's series?

i can't speak for any other of the potential candidates, but i was first asked to collate all of Z's work into a single, comprehensive file, which i did. and then after, i was asked to submit a chapter-by-chaptper synopsis of how i would bring the book (and the series) to a logical conclusion, which i did. that done, i was given the go-ahead to start work, making sure that i reworked Z's deleted scenes to include as much of his work as possible.

which i did.

and keeping my mouth shut about it has probably been the most closely-guarded secret i've had to carry for years. this includes my Navy time on submarines. at least then, i had an entire Engineering Department that knew what i knew. this time it was . . . three people. hair-pulling.

and THANK YOU to everyone! i'm really looking forward to getting the Pen's feedback, and then everyone's. i'm biting my nails, over here.
