Name this song from the youtube clip . . .
« on: January 20, 2011, 02:30:28 PM »

Okay, firstly, this is an awesome youtube clip with scenes from the Norwegian movie The Troll Hunter (which looks excellent btw). Can anybody recognize the music? A comment under the clip says the band is Rammstein, and I've checked through their songs on youtube but can't find anything similar. It's a really good riff, good song that fits well with the clip.

So, band name and song title . . . anybody know it?

Yep.

Believe it or not....I'm a huge Rammstein fan, from even before they were commonly available in the USA.  I attended their first ever concert in the US, opening for KMFDM in '97.  Back then, you had to buy their CDs as imports from Europe and they cost like $30 or something.

Great, thanks Bryon. Cool song, I really like that one. I wonder where the maker of the movie got the instrumental version?

To be honest I never really listened to Rammstein before now (and I'm a huge metal and rock fan), just thought it was a load of bizarre nonsense, and although it is bizarre it certainly isn't nonsense. The song Bück dich, while not my scene content wise, is a brilliant song and the riff is simple yet awesome.

Good band. I might have to explore them further.

I have always loved the way they can combine 80s "hair metal" guitar with techno/industrial beats and the most aggressively "male" voice in the history of rock music.

Dylan, you really should check out more Rammstein.  They're excellent.  Never seen them live, but I saw a video a while back that was very strange.

I have been a fan of Rammstein since 2004 (Reise Reise remains one of my favorite albums of all time) and they were my overall favorite band until the most recent album. It really disappointed me. "Pussy" really put me off, due to the fact that is wasn't as tongue in cheek as their earlier videos (It wasn't the fact that there was sex in it, but rather that they put sex in the video for a song about sex). It showed a lack of ingenuity, in my opinion. As for the song itself, after "Spring" and "Benzin" as singles, it didn't seem like a step forward.

I only like to two songs off the album, "Haifisch" and "Roter Sand", and only two of the bsides (Devin Townsend's remix of "Rammlied")

and "Ich tuh dir weh" remix by DJ Fuck Off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usogAIecTJg
