Apocalypse of the Dead
« on: December 19, 2010, 01:49:14 AM »

I'm surprised there's not a mention of your latest here, or at least I can see by just scanning the topics.  I really enjoyed it.  Had read Quarantined just before it, which was a great read too.  Including Dead City, its been three home runs in a row.

Looking forward to your next book!  Will undoubtedly have it on pre-order, anxiously waiting for the release date.

Marc, thanks for starting this thread.  I appreciate it, and your kind words.  I haven't been online nearly as much as I should these last few weeks.  I just got promoted at my day job and the new position is keeping me crazy busy.  I did, however, write a reader's guide to the entire Dead World series.  It covers Dead City, Apocalypse of the Dead, and the various short stories and novellas that make up the series, plus the two novels that will be released next year.  Here's a link to the guide:

http://joemckinney.wordpress.com/a-readers-guide-to-dead-world/

I get a lot of emails from folks wanting to know about one aspect or another of Dead City and Apocalypse of the Dead, and I tried to answer as many of those questions as I could without making any significant spoilers.  If you're curious about where the series has been, or where it is going, I encourage you to take a look.  And if you've got any specific questions I didn't answer in the guide, ask me in the comments section.  I won't worry about spoilers there.

Also, if there are any reviewers out there, and you'd be interested in reading a copy of Apocalypse of the Dead or Dead City for review on your website, let me know at joemckinney2033@yahoo.com and I'll get you set up with a review copy from the publisher.

I critiqued the manuscript of Apocalypse of the Dead for Joe, and I have a copy of the finished book now. Man, what a fantastic follow up to Dead City! Here's what I had to say on Amazon:

Quote
In the epic tradition of Swan Song and The Stand, Apocalypse of the Dead examines the end of the world through the shady glasses of a grasslands cult. McKinney crafts some of the best stories ever told.

That's right, David!  Thanks again, man.  Couldn't have done it without you!

I just got a great review of Apocalypse of the Dead over at Shroud Magazine.  I'm pretty proud of this one.

And more good news for Apocalypse of the Dead.  I just made the Creature Feature's Top Ten Novels of 2010.  Here's the link to the full list.  It's an honor to be in such good company.

Thanks, guys!  The next one, Flesh Eaters, comes out April 1st.  This one is a prequel to Dead City, set in Houston during the storms that cause the zombie outbreak.
