Kindle sales rating
« on: June 26, 2010, 11:47:27 AM »

So, Jacob pointed this out to me yesterday when it was at #2.  Apparently he, me, and who knows who else publicizing that shifted the balance a bit.

Ex-Heroes is a #1 Amazon Kindle bestseller.

For a few hours, anyway...  :)

This is completely awesome!!! For some reason Amazon has categorized your book as a graphic novel?!

It's got a guy on the cover who's wearing a cape.   That's... y'know, that's pretty close.  Good enough.

Don't question the system if it's working, that's what I say...

I didn't even know Kindle sold comics and graphic novels...

But well done, Peter. Ex Heroes seems a popular read across the board.

In the interest of realism, I've been studying the numbers as best I can.

Amazon claims to have over 600,000 titles for the Kindle.  However, we all know a good chunk of these are public domain works they've snatched up and people who are using the Kindle to self-publish for free.  There are no hard numbers, but I'm going to use the 50% rule and say that this accounts for maybe 300,000 Kindle titles.  This leaves a touch over 300,000 paid titles, which is what the ranking goes off.  And in that case Ex-Heroes is (currentley) #2181 in paid titles.

So, still solidly in the top 1%, but not quite as spectacular as the #1 slot makes it sound.  ;)

You're ahead of a Star Trek movie Tie-in by J.J. Abrams though.

So look at it that way...you've beat the creator of Lost! :D

Checked this while linking to this page again...

Still #1 in Kindle graphic novels (don't ask why, just go with it).

Also #46 in Kindle sci-fi/ adventure novels.

And #50 in sci-fi/adventure books (paper).

Three top 100 lists. Arguably top 50.  Which is cool.  :)

At least it makes some kind of sense.  On the other hand, the current #3 in that category is a mildly sci-fi action/adventure novel with no superhero or comic book ties whatsoever.

Now that I think about it, two or three people do die pretty horribly in the book...
