A good stepping stone for Scotch is Whiskeys from ZZ's neck of the woods.  Get yourself some good Canuck Whiskey, it's like a gentle baboon compared to the gorilla from Banffshire.  Drinking whiskey is also good for some street cred, especially with the cowboys.

First alcohol I ever had was Canadian Club purloined from my father's "when company comes over" stash. I still remember how it made my arms tingle from the shoulder all the way to the tips of my fingers.

Not sure I agree with you about avoiding blends, though. I've had single malts here and there over the years, but my go-to has and always will be Chivas 12, probably because my mother has always loved it and it's been the one Scotch that's never been absent from my life.

I suppose I've only had the worst of the worst blends.  Or I've been spoiled on the good stuff.

I definitely prefer both Canadian Mist and Windsor over Canadian Club, but that's just the way I was raised.  They're all affordable levels of whiskey, and all of them will taste wonderful in Coke or Seven Up.  Or straight up.  Depending on your mood.

Cheers,

Note to self (in the morning): Drinking this fake-ass absinthe straight up was a horrible idea and you should be ashamed of yourself.

When obeying the one per wheel rule, make sure the ones aren't too big.

Or are big enough...

I'm actually four scotches and a six pack in.  And it's quarter to two.  At five, I need to put the binders on and go to work.

No more driving froklifts for me!  I gots a desk jorb!

It's been a "Release the Kraken" weekend the past two weekends.  I held up better this past weekend.

Indeed it has.

I've got the binders on this week.  The last two weeks have borderlined on the socially unacceptable side of the drunk thread.

Of course, no holds barred on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights.  Those are when the work gets done... ;)

Hope you all don't mind me jumping in on your drunk thread, but seeing as I've been drinking the last like, three hours (!!!!) that I've been browsing the threads on this forum and random links and such, I thought I'd chip in and say, sup.  Orange vodka + Sunkist and now on Two Hearted Ales = good times.

edit: and because of this fine thread (and the glowing reviews, I might add) I am def interested in your work, Mr. Daley.  Good advertising!

I like it when people jump around this drunk thread of mine. That's what it's for!
