I've done this for years (tried to average a book per week) - I'm actually such a geek that I've kept a list of every book I've read since 2002 on a tabbed Excel spreadsheet (excluding textbooks, unless I read the textbook ALL the way through, and the books I read to my kids). Thus I know that I managed to meet or exceed my goal only three times so far - 2002 (54 books), 2008 (56 books), and 2009 (62 books). It's not looking too bad so far for this year, though!
