2010 - 52Books
« on: January 12, 2010, 02:56:37 PM »

On average I read a book every 2-3 weeks, cashing in on 15-30 minutes before I go to bed, or whenever my head starts to nod and bob. Despite reading regularly, I buy more books than I read. I love books.

This year I'm dedicating myself to read 1 book a week, or 52 books this year. Hopefully it'll become habit and I can continue forever, maybe getting caught up.

First book was MYSTIC RIVER by Dennis Lehane. Accompanying my weekly readings will be a review.

Next week's book is CAUGHT STEALING by Charlie Huston. I'll update this thread each week.

I think my average came down 2 1 book every other week.
I would like to get that up 2 1 a week.
I'm in with you man.......52 or more books this year is my goal!

I average 25 books a year.  I'd love to read more, as I too buy far more than I read (obsession is the word) but I'm a slow reader and I do a lot of writing.

Caught Stealing was a good read. I look forward to more Charlie Huston books.

I also read The Pack: Winter Kill by Mike Oliveri. It was a quick read, short page turner.

Since I have a couple weeks I moved on to Dennis Lehane's The Given Day which is 700 pages. So I'll need those 2 weeks.

Robert, I'm like you. I don't consider myself a fast reader. My wife can easily read a book in a single sitting. I am also working on a couple novels of my own.

It'll take me two weeks to read a book, then I'll give it to my wife and she reads it in two days... Then again, she's not wirting and editing stories on her spare time.

I'll never get around to reading a book a week but maybe a book every other week.

I'm just finishing up Rain Storm of the John Rain series by Barry Eisler. If you like spy thrillers, this is a great series....Rain is pretty badass.

Not sure what I'll read next but it took me about 2 weeks to get through Rain Storm given my limited reading time.

I read Barry Eisler's Fault Line last year. I have the first 3 Rain books, yet to read them.

I need to find smaller books.  Of the last five books I read, and one I'm currently half way through, one was Under the Dome, and two were longer than that.

6 books down with JC Hutchins' 7th SON:DESCENT. Good read, though it didn't have a conclusive end, instead leaving it hanging to pick up in book two. Hopefully there will be a book two.

Now reading Charlie Huston's SLEEPLESS.
