I think it's the sororities/fraternities where I teach that are throwing a 90's costume party.  90's?  Really?  I'm old enough that that's a costumable party theme?

I saw dizzy gillespie live when I was a trumpet player and got to meet him.  And he's been dead a while now.

I would've responded sooner, but at my age it's not easy to stay up so late...  :D

I remember seeing The Ramones in concert.  And Debbie Harry.  Bob Dylan.  Living Color.  Jesus Jones. The Beastie Boys... :)

It's not that I don't like new music.  The Shakira songs were pretty catchy, and I even admitted to liking Lady GaGa when she was on a month or two back.  They just all seem so interchangeable as performers.

Y'know what it is, they're the music industry equivalent of Hollywood horror films.  They just run together because almost every one of them is produced, packaged, and marketed the same way.   :-\

The song she wrote that convinced her father to get his much-needed heart surgey.

I remember the day they first invented music.  Everyone was goin' nutz and scereamin' 'bout the end o' the world.

I knew about Gaga before thanks to working in a place where  I am surrounded by tabloids and magazines.  That's how I know a lot about what hot in pop culture, too.  Plus, being in a large metro college helps me stay in contact with what's "in".

I would say that thankfully I am a "little" too young to remember disco... then again, I do remember leg warmers which was just a few years later.

I just found out that The Cars have a new album coming out - and you can listen to the whole thing on RollingStone.com - and it sounds freaking awesome.

I had completley forgotten about them, then they turn up, and sound great, so I told my wife about it, and she liked it...

Then she told one of our employees about it, and the girl she told said "who are The Cars?".

Now I just feel ridiculously old...but at least the music still sounds good.
