Nox Arcana
« on: August 07, 2009, 06:22:38 PM »

has anyone here ever listened to Nox Arcana?  It's duo consisting of artist Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski and they basically do dark fantasy and horror inspired instrumental music.  Each album has a particular theme (haunted carnivals, houses, and abandoned  asylums; ghost pirates; Lovecraft and Poe lore; fairy tales) with artwork by Vargo to match.  I love them because they take the time to give each title it's own feel which makes for some contrasting mood; I've found this sometimes inspirational when I'm trying to work out story particulars.

I just went over to U Tube and yup, I am now a fan. I love the song The Wings of Gabriel. I hope that's it. Anyway, thanks. This would be great music to write to, mood inspiring without being intrusive. I like to listen to opera or bands like Portishead when I write.

Glad you liked them, Butters.  I ran across them by chance and found their music extremely interesting.  I listen to a variety of things, just depends on my mood.

Thank you, spambot.  I never would've found this thread without you.  Which means I never would've heard "Necronomicon" or "The Stars Align" or my new personal favorite, "Temple of the Black Pharaoh."

Not bad. I'm a Globus/Immediate Music fan myself.
