Dave and I got together a couple of days ago to find out which of his characters from Empire would make a cool picture. Here is what we came up with:

Sweet!  :)

As I told Bret, I've saved all of his character illustrations and am planning to get them up on the site. Again, great work on the King!

Thanks Jacob and Dave.

I have been working on a children's book all day and this was a nice break. I had fun drawing this guy! As I told Dave, one thing that I am learning is that children aren't nearly as easy to draw as I once thought they would be. Dave suggested I draw children being eaten alive, but I don't think the author would go with that little change in his story.  :o

Bret, I think this is my favourite illustration of yours yet. (Thumbs-up emoticon)

It's really cool, I feel like I'm watching you mature as an artist by leaps and bounds via this forum. Keep it up, dude!

Thanks Joel,

I really enjoyed working on this one, and I think I am getting better.

Before I did the drawings for the new Undead Anthology I hadn't hardly touched a pencil or pen in 3 years (or that is when the drawings stopped in my sketchbook). Then Jacob sent out a call for the new Zombie Anthology and I figured what the hell, I need to start drawing again. I drew the pictures for Jacob (and really enjoyed myself). I figured I would get back into it again and started submitting artwork to various sites. I was shocked when I got a reply back in a couple of weeks from Hero Games. Since then I have been drawing my butt off (about 12 hours streight today on the children's book). I can see myself getting better. I guess it's like anything, just practice, practice, practice.

Thanks again Joel - and I appologize for boring you with my lifes story!  :-[

I think its great to see someone grow ... and Bret, I think you are growing everyday (I'm proud of you!), I really liked your initial pictures (they were loose and freeflowing ... not staged (Which I feel I am at times).  But your new stuff is getting a life of its own ... you're pouring your heart and soul into every piece, and you deserve the credit for what you do.  And its fantastic that you are drawing stuff you enjoy doing ... I am sure Dave's Empire is great! (Sorry ... still trying to find a spare second to read it.  I will though ... promise!).

It seems like the pencil has got you good, my friend!

Thanks Stephen!  ;D

I am really enjoying drawing with the pencils again. I love doing pen & ink stuff too, but you can get a lot more variety out of pencils, and I am able to work about twice as fast.

What you aught to do is read a section of Empire a day until you are caught up. It doesn't take but 5 minutes or so to read a section and within a couple of weeks you will be caught up and then you will only be catching it 3 times a week, when Dave posts. I wish he would post about 5 times a week, but I don't want to overwork him.  ;)

As far as the art stuff goes, I really hadn't drawn hardly anything for the 3 years prior to drawing my stuff for the new Undead Anthologies. I'm sure I could do a much better job now than I did then, been getting a lot of practice.

By the way, your stuff does't look posed at all. Your stuff looks real! I'm still blown away by your Zombie picture and the Creature picture. They look like black and white photographs!

Thanks again Stephen!

Hey Dave,

Tried to leave a comment on the last posting, but once again it wouldn't let me, so I will leave it here.

This is all I wanted to say if I could have:

Great job once again, and I'm glad to see Tetch finally get what he deserved!

I sure would like to know what is going on with those comments, but I don't think it is me!  :(
