In October: Interactive Poll for Mailing List Subscribers
« on: September 21, 2006, 04:12:17 PM »

For those of you who've joined the Empire mailing list (sign-up form on the main page), starting in October there will be a poll deciding the fate of a character (or characters), with the poll results to be executed in the Halloween update. This won't be a gimmick merely disposing of throwaway characters - it'll affect the course of the story. Stay tuned!

-Dave

I just joined the poll. I didn't realize that Empire was an online book! Sometimes I am a little slow.  >:(

I am to 1.4 The House in the Swamp. I should be caught up by this evening. I like what I have read so far.

Thanks for making it available!

I'm all for killing Lee!

I know that he is most likely a "disposable" character, but I want to see him go in a bad way.  >:(

As you can probably tell, I am caught up on the story now and just waiting for the next chapter.

Great stuff! I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

I love this idea.  This is the kind of thing that can only really be done with serial fiction.

I may be a geek, (actually, there isn't much maybe about that  :-[) but I have to say that it is really a privilege to be able to communicate with an author about his/her book! To think that maybe my wishes will have some sort of impact on his/her story. In my book that is awsome. See, I told you I was a geek.  ;)

I would also imagine that this works pretty well for the authors because they can get a certain amount of feedback about what the reader wants, and I suppose this is great, as long as the author still writes the sort of stories he/she wishes to write, and doesn't begin to only cater to the reader.

In the Empire series there are a lot of things that the readers (or me anyway) still doesn't understand yet, like Death (what is he doing running around among the living), and that guy with all of the zombie helpers (there is something almost supernatural about that fellow). It adds a level of mystery to the story so that you feel you have to keep reading to find out what is going on with these characters. Since I still don't understand what is going on with these fellows I can't give much of an oppinion, except "Thanks for giving me something to look forward to in the next installment"

On a side note: I am thinking of doing a little sketch of Grinning Samuel (he would make an interesting image) and I was wondering if you would mind if I posted it when it is done. If you would like I could send it to you first in a Personal Message so that you could have a look before it gets posted.

Thanks again for a great read!

Thank you for reading! I agree about the poll. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out and where readers want the story to go.

A Grinning Samuel sketch would be awesome. Feel free to just post it whenever you're done. :)

It's kinda dreary around here today, so I staying in and doodled.

Here is my version of Grinning Samuel. A character from one of Mr. Dunwoody's stories out of the first Undead Anthology.

Thanks.

I hope that I have captured the look of Grinning Samuel, at least to a degree. As usual, it wasn't as good as the picture I have in my head, but very few of the things that I draw ever are.

I'm glad you guys liked it.  ;D  ;D

I had some more downtime today so I figured I would sketch a little more of your story.

So, here is the "dog masked" rotter from...

Empire 1.8.

I know, I need a life.  :(

But I like to doodle sooooo much.
