Fascinating posts Frank. Does God in fact make choices, or is He bound by His own inflexible nature?

Or, does God in fact have the power of choice; and whichever option He chooses, regardless of reason or outcome, therefore becomes the "right" option?

A lot of politicians seem to think that way with regard to their decisions. ;)

Quote
If we applied that theory to good and evil, than to experience evil (Dark) you must first have good (Light)

I think this follows the same line of logic as Frank's statement that mercy without perspective & choice is meaningless. I'd say the same goes for bravery or or any act of "good". Similarly, to be truly evil, one must understand the concept of goodness and reject it.

And based on that I don't think anyone is innately good or evil (and, in fact, some unfortunately come into this world lacking any moral compass to calibrate). Saints and criminals are made, not born. I' would like to think that God comes by His goodness the same way. We'll see I guess.

The art of Stephen Gammell. This picture and its accompanying tale in Scary Stories 3, "The Dream." scared the piss out of me as a kid.

The "sinking/drifting" ones are cool. I like "Portrait" too

Gammell is creepy as hell.

Hey, if you can wait through the artist's message, which you can't skip, check out Alex Gray's temple, which is like one of those anatomy books where the pages are transparencies of each bodily system, so you can strip away each layer of the human being from skin to bone--only Gray adds transcendental layers. F-ing awesome.

Those pics in that Scary Stories book scared the crap outta me too! (Still do!) Then my son brought home the book from his school book fair....oh noes! Then he got the old ass audio tape from the library (my mother in law works there and dug it up for him) and it was just plain corny! Thanks for bringing back scary memories....remember that one with the girl that wore the dress to a dance and it was covered in embalming fluid? That scared the mess outta me too!!!

I don't think this is from the old audio book, but this reading of "The Dream" is goofy as all hell too.

Schwartz's Scary Stories read more like accounts than tales. I think it's that matter-of-factness which makes them especially unnerving.

I seem to go through a brief period of writers' block every December - I think it has more to do with the calendar than the season. That arbitrary change from 09 to 10, the winding down of a clock that doesn't exist, is eating my brain and no amount of self-awareness helps to ease the pressure.

I find the best thing to do in the event of writers' block is just to walk away from it. Not knowing when the creative drive will return still nags at me, but I know it will. Lot of macabre fiends waiting in the hopper too!

Writers' block broke like a fever this weekend. I had continued to outline, even though the writing wasn't coming, and now the stories are just pouring out. I'm trying to think of a beautiful metaphor for it but all that comes to mind are abscesses.

Heaven forbid, no; I do not profess to say aught against a profesy.  I but merely, point out the grammar/spelling as I have been trained to do in the PITTTTTTTT!
