Solitary

Sara (Amber Jaeger) suffers from agoraphobia, an obsessive fear of open spaces that renders her a virtual captive of her own home. When her husband, Mark (Kieron Elliott), disappears unexpectedly, Sara unravels emotionally and begins to panic. Turning to her estranged sister (Kristine Sullivan) and a psychiatrist (Andrew Qamar) for support, Sara soon begins to wonder whether the doctor is trying to help her or is plotting her demise.

Great movie that became unhinged at the end. Did a great job of showing someone with agoraphobia.

Attempted to watch Hunger Games, barely made it a half an hour.  Use a stable camera for f*cks sake!

Then watched half of Mirror Mirror, really fun and cute, probably great kids film.

when I was 10 years old this quote bounced around my head for months and I couldn't wrap my brain around it.

"! I went down on my girlfriend the other day. I said jesus you’ve got a big pussy, jesus you’ve got a big pussy. She said, why did you say it twice? I said i didn’t. Get it? ‘Coz of the echo!"

Believe it or not, it's a complete ad lib.  Hawkins was/ is screenwriter Shane Black (the guy behind Lethal Weapon, Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and now Iron Man 3).  Hawkins was just supposed to be "Guy Who Dies #1" and Black wanted to make him more memorable.  So he came up with the idea of him telling really awful dirty jokes.

True story.

Batman: Year One

whoo! i really liked that! it felt like it hit all the right points from the comic, even in just an hour. and the adaption of specific scenes from panel to motion was pretty slick. i liked it much better than, say, Ultimate Avengers, or Thor: Tales of Asgard.

Well it worked. A young ZM and his friends were obsessed with that movie. There's a Catholic school playground where his lines were uttered many times.

Paranormal Activity 3

I liked it but it didn't sink it's teeth into the paranoid part of my head like 1 & 2. Part of what made those so great was the subtlety. This was a bit over the top. Especially the ending.

Looked it up... So number 4 is on its way.

The Cabin In The Woods

Holy crap.  This is one of the best films I've seen in ages.  It's like a meta-meta-horror movie.

Three things I cannot explain, but are awesome--  Speakerphone.  A collapsible bong.  Zombie arm.

I cannot recommend this film enough.  Seriously.

In Time. Not exactly what I expected (in a good way). Liked it, but didn't love it. I enjoyed the irony of the whole situation - ie, the people with less time were the ones who really lived (even if they only lived to get more time) while the people with all the time in the world may as well have been dead already. Some scenes were quite well done, even if you could see them coming a mile off (Olivia Wilde and the bus fare, for example). The "fight" between Timberlake and the Minuteman was probably the highlight of the whole flick.

That said, I just felt like I was watching Gattaca or Surrogates again. Same kind of story, presented in a similar way. Got a little bored halfway through and started surfing the web while watching, which probably isn't a good sign. It picked up near the end, but the actual ending felt like a bit of a cop-out. On the other hand, if it had ended the way I thought it was going to, it would have been a cliche. So I dunno.

Frankly, I just wish someone would make a movie like this that doesn't feel like every other movie like this. If that makes sense.
