I forgot to add I saw the latest Underworld adventure featuring Kate in her shiny, body hugging Katesuit. It had non-glittery vampires doing vampire things with scary lycans that were freakishly large, explosions, gun fire, slicy dicy by one of the vampires and Kate in a Katesuit. They actually did some pretty good reveals that were unexpected as well as some they telegraphed. Overall I found the movie to be about a B- because of the 3D crap - which they didn't overdo or it would have been a D+. So explody goodness, guns, blood, gore, slicy dicy and the Katesuit.
Did I mention Kate in the Katesuit? ;D

The Death of the Incredible Hulk - The only one of the TV movies I hadn't seen. It's very well done and a decent close to the series. I really like Bixby as an actor.

Red Cliff - An epic movie about a critical battle in Chinese history. It's based on the novel THE THREE KINGDOMS which I've tried to read several times. The movie is fascinating and gives a great background.

Timecrimes - One of the most intelligent (and best) horror movies I've ever seen. For a movie about the inevitable, this is filled with surprises.

Concur!  And, they get "time" done relatively proper ... one of the few movies I've ever seen do so ...

"Inception" good acting, good script, good production values.

Something like a caper flick scripted by Philip K. Dick, it keeps you guessing, and slips in a very subtle zinger at the very end.

The F/X are spectacular. :cthulhu:

And presumably, you were the only remaining person in the western world who hadn't seen it yet.  ;)

Wake Wood with Aiden Gillen. Huge potential as its a great story but the set up was terrible.

Oh so you practice Pagen rituals to raise the dead for 3 days do you? Oh and you can raise my daughter? Aight!

Space Battleship Yamoto! (The live action one.)

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, "wave motion gun ... activated!"

One should expect, by my exuberance, that I enjoyed it mightily ...

Toy Story 2

Which, up until last night, I had never seen.

Loved it, and lost track of how many random movie references they worked into it.  Pixar is such a bunch of geniuses (which is why I have such high hopes for John Carter).

The Whisperer in Darkness adaption by the HPLHS.  Very good stuff overall.  I even liked most of the changes.  My main issues were with the climactic action scene which I found kind of ridiculous, and the CG monsters.  I realize that was probably the only way the budget could handle them, but the awesome stop-motion Cthulhu in their last movie rather spoiled me.  Other than that, very good.

The Mythoscope makes a virtue of nescesity , and the effect works well. You might well think it was an old Universal horror flick, just as 'Call of Cthulhu' looks just like something FW Murnau might have done.

Of course, the smaller budget  is at the root, but I must say, I love Mythoscope. I also love the props and tchochkes they purvey.

The film is a departure from the story, but on film, its a better story. I love the 2/3 scale Curtis Jenny in the climax. The bonus reels explain some of the magic, but are almost more fun than the actual movie.

I have all the films the HPLHS offers, and enjoy them greatly. The audio "Dark Adventure Radio Theater" is authentic 30's spoken drama :cthulhu:

It's much more of a pure comedy that just uses some of the tropes of horror as dressing.

Simply put, two peaceful hillbillies go out to the backwoods to fix up their fishing cabin and get attacked by a group of college kids on Spring Break.

Sounds like a nice reversal of the whole Texas Chainsaw / Wold Creek / etc. subgenre.
