Fango's Weekend of Horrors
« on: June 19, 2008, 11:52:37 AM »

Is this weekend, down at the Crowne Plaza Meadowlands Hotel.

http://www.creationent.com/cal/fangocon/fangonj.htm

I'll have a table in the dealer's room, with all purchases from me signed for free, natch, and a free gift with any two book purchase!

It starts tomorrow at 1pm, so come on down! I'm sharing my table with the much more handsome and talented Jonathan Maberry, and the very charming and up-and-coming lads and lasses of Class-B!

ooooh, I forgot about this. I'm going to see Iron Maiden Friday night, if I can convince anyone to go with me Saturday afternoon I will attend.

I'll be in the area, might stop by, but Penn Jersey She Devils play that evening. The Fallen Angels VS The Dishonor Roll! I'll be chillin' with my girls Late "T" Bug, Lucky Luciano, and Hotrod Hussy! (They often do the horror conventions at the Crowne Plaza to help promote local derby.)

I like the digs at The Crowne Plaza, they have a nice set up for conventions as compared to some venues. The rooms are really nice too! If I go, I'll definitely stop by your table and say hi!

You're down with derby, diva? Coincidentally, I just handed a box of books over to the Hudson Valley Horrors, so I am now an official corporate sponsor!

Uh K-Paff darlin', I am in derby, just not officially on a team yet, LOL! That's old news already.

I got my dates mixed up, Fallen Angels VS Dishonor Roll is on the 28th! I've been so busy with the house purchase that my brain wasn't functioning correctly, LOL!

I will prolly go to this convention Saturday, so watch out! You're in my territory now buster, LOL!

I didn't get to go. I wanted to, really I did, but my job needed me to cover for someone who I'm pretty sure had spring fever. I bet the beach was nice, LOL!

Oh well, there are plenty of other conventions to attend. I'm sorry that I missed meeting the mister, I'm sure that we would've had some really cool pics taken together! As far as derby goes, you cannot NOT have a great time, it is the greatest thing to ever happen in my life!

I hope the answer is yes, as I sent him a copy of the original "DtR" (green cover) to him while doing a book signing at the SAn Antonio premiere of "Land of the Dead", where the Lead Zombie was present, as well as Romero's alleged right hand man...

He gets copies of my  books free if I ever meet him...

Except for the "Pit Fighter" stories... he has to pay for those...

I think you'd get some good exposure for Pit Fighter if you run up to Romero and punch him in the the face...  ;)

Funny you should mention that... (reclines in rocking chair like an old man, looking at a young Jacob sitting on the floor in front of him)

First of all, Alamo drafthouse cinema is the greatest theatre EVER (http://www.drafthouse.com)...

Alamo's owner had a RomeroFest several years ago at an outdoor location in which they showed a night of Romero classics, including but not limited to Creepshow, The Crazies, and DAy of the Dead...

I have a recording of it... I"ll have to YOuTube it sometime... He talked about "Land...", "Shaun...", and other things... I was struck at how tall he was...

Anyway, I got in line to get some autographs from George, and it took about an hour or so to finally get to him... So I get to him, tell him how great he is, how he inspired me to write a novel about zombies, and hand him my headshot in the off chance his wife would cast me in "Land..."...

After I pic a picture and have him autograph it and my copy of "Day of the Dead", a guy sitting next to him, very obviously drunk, confronts me as I'm walking away.  In short, he challenges me because I submitted a headshot and questions my capacity for participation in a Romero movie.  The guy is clearly drunk, and I clearly wanted to hand him his ass... but the last thing I wanted to do was to make an ass out of myself in front of George and get kicked out of the zombiefest before "Day.." was shown... It didnt' help that I was also quite impaired (Alamo features Schlitz for the budget crowd like me), and didn't want to look like not only a dumb ass, but a drunk dumb ass...

Weird, surreal experience... if I transfer the video to digital, I'll post it sometime... It's very cool...

Of the Romero interview, not the confrontation...

lol...

(Shakes Jacob from his slumber)...

I didn't care about meeting George, I wanted to meet Kim!

(I've hung with all the Romero peeps plenty a time, partied with, as well as have been to Joe Shelby's house in Cape May, NJ.)
