I figured I'd better get one of these going after following the other promotional threads.
Last I heard, Jacob was reading his hard copy of
Empire and digging it, so we'll see what happens on that front!
I've just been published in the e-zine
susurrus. My story "In the Clay" concerns a vacant lot, a cop and a disfigured vagrant on a date with destiny.
Right now I'm working with an editor on my novella "Lost Souls" for Permuted's
Headshot Quartet. We're smoothing out the kinks and I'm having a great experience with the editor assigned by Jacob.
I'm also an aspiring screenwriter, and on that front, things look like they're picking up.
Live Bait, set to be filmed in HD this summer in California, takes the standard slasher formula and turns it on its head. I was basically handed a character & concept created by Timberwolf Entertainment in their 2001 indie homage
Summer's End: The Legend of Samhain & told to give it new life. Some of you into indie horror might be familiar with Jack, the killer who wore a jack-o'-lantern mask:
Live Bait is a stand-alone story reintroducing Jack's legend and, partway through, giving him a gruesome new look.
So what makes it different from the other slashers coming off the assembly line? As a slasher fanatic, I've tried to inject some new ideas into this outing, and director Joe Patnaud (he's got a gig on Zombie's
Halloween right now) provided the story angle that gives the film its name. There's going to be a lot of "bait" running around in this flick, and who's being baited is where the twists & turns begin.
Last note: my
MySpace has a story tracker (thanks again to Joel Sutherland for the idea) logging my current submissions & accepted material. At any given time there are probably a couple of anthos or magazines linked there that you may want to submit to, so check it out.
