As I haven't received a rejection yet, I'm still holding out hopes for my submission. And in regards to Lovecraft's prose, as I have matured I've come more and more to the opinion that his antiquated and at time stiffly formal, yet highly descriptive style adds immeasurably to the atmosphere of his stories.

I have a final list of stories John has selected for both books and he will be working on sending out acceptances/rejections. Watch for a TOC for both books coming as soon as he's received confirmation from the accepted authors... i guess since he's been contacting authors for three weeks now, i can stop holding my breath. hah!

In 19 days, the one year mark will be upon me from when I sent my story in. Are authors not selected going to be notified or will we discover we haven't made the cut when a TOC is unveiled?

Yes. We've been told to expect to receive personal notification of acceptance of either acceptance or rejection from John S. The "when" is the million dollar question. John S. is hard at work on this but there's no firm end date. As they say, "It ain't over till it's over."

somewhere in the thread Mr. Krueger says how many submissions he's received, but i'm too lazy to look through 57 pages to find it. i imagine that it's a pretty significant amount of rejections to write, considering that they got enough usable material for TWO volumes.

I think he said 300. I remember being impressed by that because of where I got my start writing: the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds contest run by Pocket Books. They received 3,000 + entries each year. The editors would whittle that down to about 40 that were good enough to be published, and then pick the 20-some that they wanted. To have so many good stories out of just 300-some that it spawned a second volume speaks to the quality of what was submitted.

The decisions were quite difficult, but editor John Sunseri has selected the final contents for the 2 volumes of Permuted Press' Cross-Genre Cthulhu (which will be retitled Cthulhu Unbound for publication).
Sincere thanks to all those who took the time to submit and their patience during the lengthy review and selection process. All accepted authors have been contacted. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, individual rejection notices will not be sent. Please accept the apologies of Permuted Press for this less-than-ideal situation.
