Doctor Who
« on: April 05, 2008, 03:20:33 AM »

Anyone who knows me even a little bit can tell you that not only is Doctor Who my favorite TV show, it's also pretty much my favorite thing ever. There's only one thing out there I enjoy more than Doctor Who, and that particular thing remains a a closely guarded secret.

Anyhoo, series 4 of Doctor Who premieres on BBC One in the UK tonight, and will premiere on the Sci-Fi Channel later this month. As such, I'm excited (April is pretty much the most exciting time of the year for me because it's generally right around the time the new season of WHO starts).

Anyone else gearing up for the new series?

i'm going to start watching season 3 somewhere around the middle of season 4, that way when i'm done, i'll have enough of season 4 to just dive right in.

that's what i do.

I'm DYING for season 4 to get over here on SciFi!  Dr. Who's one of very few shows I watch (I can take or leave -- mostly leave -- a lot of the rest of TV).  The last season's episodes with the Master were some of the best (I wonder if they'll ever bring Davros back? I remember him from ages ago and thought he was a great bad guy).

As a Yank who grew up with the series on PBS (saw all eras and pretty much each and every episode through the station, with the Pertwee/Baker/Davidson being the faves), the triumphant return of Who was quite moving... Hearing the music after so many years took me back to the happiness and joy of my childhood... and each episode has not disappointed... They are 100times more powerful, moving, and enjoyable as the classic series...

Great moments for me the past three seasons SPOILER!!!

Seeing the Daleks return in DALEK... greatest quote ever ("You would make a good Dalek")

Tribute to "Spearhead from Space" in the very first episode....

Rose Tyler ... 'nuff said...

The Rose Tyler/Father episode...

The "Everyone lives" episode...

Christopher Eccleston regenerates...

The return of an alternate universe Cybermen in season 2

The Dream match of Dalek vs. Cybermen at the end of season 2

That effn hot chick that worked at Torchwood in that same episode (man, she was hot... glasses, legs, boobs, British... mmm, mmm)

The most moving and magnificent performance by Sir Derek Jacoby in the final episodes of season 3 (Absolutely inspiring performance... truthful, real, and just fantastic)

SEason four is going tohave a hard time topping the last three.... But I'll be there next week (on Sci Fi 7:30 central time) for every single minute...

I'll be watching Partners in Crime tomorrow afternoon. I'm so excited! (I've just read that the song Doomsday appears in the new episode. The last time it was used in the show was in the finale of series 2... hmm...)

To tide me over, I need to watch the last four episodes of series 2 of Torchwood.

Of course, we're all friends here and it's wonderful to have an international community, but I still feel the need to say...

Anyone who posts Doctor Who spoilers for the new season, even with a spoiler warning, will be killed. :ninja:

Then resurrected and killed again.   :chaingun:

Then raised, staked through the heart, decapitated, and buried in salt.  :chainsaw:

And then exorcised.   :spank:

... we really need a better exorcism smilie...

Thank you all.  Don't forget to vote Saxon.

Yep, same goes for spoilers of pretty much anything in a topic that isn't marked with 'HERE BE SPOILERS'.

Speaking of, I go make that thread now.

*says nothing*

And in true interweb fashion, YouTube managed to spoil it for me. And I wasn't even looking for New Series clips.  >:( I'm absolutely fuming at the moment.

Of course I didn't actually watch the clip, but the thumbnail image and the title of the clip pretty much cemented it.

I was spoiled when on-set photos were leaked. If it's any consolation, this episode wasn't what I expected at all, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, even with the prior knowledge I had.

I've also known for ages -- due to the on-set photos -- but I had no clue it would come to fruition this early. I wasn't expecting it until episode 11 at the earliest.

Le sigh.
