Just finished the Permuted Press sponsored book, The Hole, by Aaron Ross Powell. A well-written book, good pacing for the most part, but unfortunately I felt the ending didn't live up to the expectations of the build-up. Still worth reading, though.

Baroness Emmuska Orczy - The Scarlet Pimpernel

more interesting that i'd hoped for. years of training from comics and Zorro not only prepared me for the secret identity of the hero, it let me know who it was in the first five chapters.

the thing was told from the wife's POV, and was half love story.

I really liked this one too. The sequels are not as good but still fun. If you want a different persepctive on some of hte same events, try Rafael Sabatini's Scaramouche. His Captain Blood is also fun.

The Golden Age of Hollywood lovingly manhandled all of the above in classic fashion.

The Leslie Howard version of Pimpernel is reasonably faithful and is a great movie.
Captain Blood is not as faithful but still a great movie.
Scaramouche is not faithful at all and is a so-so movie. :P

I just finished AMERICAN GODS, by Neil Gaiman.  I greatly enjoyed it.  Particularly the grifts.

I'm close to the end of the Agent Pendergast books from Child and Preston, two books remaining.

Pendergast is a hybrid of Sherlock Holmes and John Steed, this is fantasy, and good fantasy at that.  With some occult tinges, too. His 'ward', Constance Green, is at once creepy and attractive.

No more, read them! :cthulhu:

Snuff by Terry Pratchett

Pretty good if you like the Disk World series.

Not really his best, but still recommended.

Out of Oz  by Gregory Maguire

The final volume of his Wicked series.

It stands alone pretty well, but best if read in order.

A lot of exposition, but sharp enough not to drag the story down.
