Game of Thrones. Loved it, but I'll follow the rest of the story on tv. Time to read some horror novels.
It can be exhausting

The Siege by Peter David

A Deep Space Nine Novel written when the show was just a few episodes into the first season.  Pretty good, interesting to see what has now become an alternate history of the show's characters.

Now I'm currently in the middle of Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison (aka Soylent Green)  I liked the movie and had wanted to read the book for a long time come to find out it was out of print for quite a while and old copies were fetching $75.  So, Ichecked it out of the library. ;D

Remember, Tuesday is Soylent Green day.

Is The Siege the one with the murder mystery and the other shapeshifter?

I always liked Peter David's Trek books.   :)

Peter David doesn't know how to write a bad book.  Every so often he tosses off something slightly less than stellar, probably when his taxes are due.

He's extremely talented. the only thing of his I've read that I didn't like was a short in one of Moonstone's "Kolchak, the Night Stalker Anthologies." He tried a different POV that could have worked but it was like he didn't get the concept of the character at all.

He did a really nice TNG Borg one (can't remember the name of it) and also a fun one with the Guardian of Forever and the Enterprise crew of the future coming back to the present to change things.  So it was sort of like "Yesterday's Enterprise" in reverse by way of the original series.

Seeing how they're making a new movie on it, I reread Carrie. Started a bit slow, but what an awesome story, especially considering how it helped Stephen King out.

Can't possibly top the DePalma version.  Spacek was Carrie.

Next thing you know, they'll make a new Dark Shadows movie.  Only they'll play it for laughs and ruin it for fans the world over.

Apparently this version of Carrie will be more like the book. My guess is it'll have the investigation bits in as well.

That doesn't matter!  It's a remake!  I can tell you now it's going to suck!  All remakes suck! Hollywood has no creativity!  I don't need to see it!  They haven't filmed one frame and I can tell you now it's all going to be awful and pointless!

Hah! I'm sure you get frustrated hearing that stuff LA but there is truth to some of that. There are so many amazing new stories to tell so we don't need so many damn remakes.

Here's a little heresy for you, I thought the original sucked - because it was simply a splashfest. The book however, taken in the context of a post-incident documentary, scared the shit out of me. As I was a crazy teen at the time and would go into the darkened basement to see what that noise was, or throw rocks at the penned up bull while being inside the fence with him - that should say something. Although, the best part of the movie was John Travolta having his "accident" (disco still sucks).
