The Multiplex Man by James P. Hogan.

Very cool story in the vein of Dollhouse and CHUCK, about what you can do when you can transfer skills, personality traits, and whole personalities from one person to another.  There's just one line I wish Hogan hadn't put in, because it telegraphs one of the big twists.   :(

If you've got a Kindle, it's free from the Baen library.

I am currently reading Pray to Stay Dead by Mason James Cole.  I am struggling to make it through this one. The book is well written but it turns into a Grindhouse book with torture porn. Being a fan of zombie books I am obviously ok with violence but when it gets over the top...wow.... This book is a winner and the author is derailing it.  Maybe I should take a break and come back to it.

"The Clash of Group Interests"
"Economic Calculation in the Socialist Commonwealth" both by Ludwig von Mises

Good, quickly-read stuff.  Has definitely helped to blow off steam before I jump into finishing the final 300 pages of "Human Action."

Complete 180...this book is a wild ride.  I am loving this now. The book needs a pretty big do-over in the beginning but recovers nicely.

Bryan Hall - Containment Room 7

i lurved this. lots and lots. it was an outbreak book, but it was different. "isolation" being one the main descriptors of my chosen careers to date, i could relate to a lot of things about life on a DARC.

off to Amazon to leave a review!

Yup good book! Finished that a week or so ago. I thought the way Bryan ended it was great. I really hope PP starts looking into more sci-fi like that.

"Slaughterhouse Five" - Kurt Vonnegut

Didn't love it, didn't hate it.  Held my attention, was weird, had a moral statement I tend to agree with...  I dunno, I may need more time to mull over the experience.  So it goes.

Really?  Might be an age-of-reading thing.  I read this first in my teens, loved it to pieces--was my first KVJr--immediately went through the complete catalogue, plus Kilgore Trout.  Breakfast of Champions remains my walking-away favorite, though.  How cool would it be, to be able to write something so completely off-the-wall as that, and get scads of money and acclaim?

I will give the author due credit: the "Money Tree" passage is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

There were quite a few good and really good thoughts and passages throughout the book, and it certainly will never be forgotten...  Perhaps it is an age thing; I just didn't like the narrative's presentation, or the whole underlying fatalism.

Am I the only one who interpreted the novel as though Billy mentally broke down, substituting Kilgore Trout novels into his life story as a means of coping?

I intend to give "Breakfast of Champions" a go in the near future.

Heat Rises by Richard Castle

A fun little mystery meta-book from the show Castle.  Plenty of in-jokes but it could still stand on its own.  Not as good as the first book, but better than the second.   :)

Ian Fleming - The Spy Who Loved Me

way back, Matthew had told me to watch for this book, because it was different, and Jimmy B didn't make an appearance until the back half. and this was true. that's not to say the book wasn't enjoyable, but after a string of ballbusters that the other Bond books were, this one certainly put me off a bit. that's probably because of the close proximity of the last one.

next up: something secret. X2. HAHAHA!!!
