I didn't ask borders or B & N to stock my book. It just happened. They came to me, not the other way around. You guys know my modus operandi. I have never been seen at conventions, in interviews, at book signings or ever sent my manuscript unsolicited. The only people that have ever seen my paper manuscript are customers that have bought the book or people that were interested in it (Borders).
My main source of income is the good old Department of Defense.
Am I pleased that I'm on a book shelf somewhere? Sure. I will not get to see it for myself until March of 2008 though. There ain't a Borders where I'm at. I don't know what convinced the Horror marketing guy to buy my book, but hell I can't complain.
I didn't convince anyone to take a risk on me. I guess that's what I'm saying. I'm not a very good salesman or politician. My job is helping to get warheads on foreheads, not being a bigshot writer.
