That is very sad. I was touched to see the way he announced it, with characteristic wit and humor.

Oh, that is sad news... I wish him all the best. These things are always best dealt with when diagnosed early.

It's good he was diagnosed early... That way he can be better treated.

Something seems to be happening to all of our great writers:

First Robert Jordan dies.

Then Steve Alten is diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

Not Terry Pratchett is disagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's.

It's really sad, the way our diseases work.
