two come to mind immediately. one because i'm listening to it as i type this, and the other because it's such a goddamn inspiration to me. the two albums are:
Corrosion of Conformity - America's Volume Dealer
Pink Floyd - Animals AVD
was a commercial flop for Corrosion of Conformity, but when i compare it to all the other albums, it just stomps all over them and never stops. i can listen to this thing all day for days on end and never get tired of it. a couple of songs are really very poignant, and here i'll give them to you for recommended listening:
Stare Too Long
Take What You Want Animals
has gone quarduple platinum, but if you ask a casual Pink Floyd fan, they've maybe heard of it. a lot of people who say they like the Floyd list The Wall
, Dark Side of the Moon
, and less often Wish You Were Here
. even some of the band members aren't really high on it (Dave Gilmour and Rick Wright) and sandwiched as it is between the above-mentioned albums, it might be easy to overlook. but i'm here to tell you, it's 42 minutes of GOLD. this is the album that really put it into my head that i wanted to try and write a concept album (the results of that experiment are HERE
, all comments on this are welcome and encouraged) and it's still something that i might want to do a cover of someday.
i can't list the songs to listen to off this one...it's only five songs, and you should listen to them all. today. GO!!!
