Wow. Just wow.
« on: November 09, 2007, 07:39:38 PM »

Jason, a "friend" of yours--Natalie--at Goodreads recommends this book to all of us zombie fanatics.

My interest in this book accelerated from indifference the loser GenX protagonist to ever-increasing, faster, and faster lust to know what happens next.

I just finished it.

It was great. It blew my mind. It was Lovecraftian in its building insanity, _Into the Mouth of Madness_ and _Naked Lunch_ mixed together with cannibals and reality TV.

Deliciously original. Just. Good.

Thanks so much for writing such a great book. I will sing its praises to others!

I just finished this and was COMPLETELY blown away.  Jason did a fantastic job here, and has set the bar VERY high not only for zombie novels, but horror novels in general.  I think people like myself who devour (pun intended) every piece of zombie fiction they can get their hands on will easily place this in their top 5 of all time favorite zombie stories.

It's THAT good folks.

I told you that you'd love it, Nick!   ;D  I definitely agree about it being in the top 5 zombie novels.  I can't wait to see what Jason does next.

Oh my god, guys; I'm pretty sure you all just made me cry.  I had no clue whatsoever that my little zombie opus would ever garner such praise from such intelligent, friendly readers such as yourselves.  I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Wattsian, I am going to have to give Natalie a big kiss on the cheek the next time I see her for pushing the book so hard on her friends at GoodReads.  I just signed up for an account myself and made a profile, but have been busy with school, the new book, message boards, and Amazon and haven't gotten around to pimping ESTE there yet.  But thanks for the faith, and thank you so much for the Lovecraft comparison.  I love his work, and you're the first to mention his influence on my novel.

And Jacob, I owe you a ton of thanks for your faith in the project, and for what Permuted is doing for the genre.

Hopefully the next novel will not disappoint.  I don't think it will, though.  I feel fairly confident about it.

By the way, if you guys really enjoy the novel, you could help it find its audience by posting a quick review on Amazon.  People really do look the reviews for it over, I believe, and it would help tremendously and I would be forever indebted to you.

I'd like to second the title of this thread. I finished Every Sigh, The End this evening. My head spun, my mind boggled, and I loved every minute of it. Good stuff.

I bought a stack of books from a Vendor at this past Cinema Wasteland and while I've read through just about all of them, Every Sigh, The End is def my favorite so far.  So, so good.  I love the negativity, the sadness, the horror movie and music references, the conspiracy theory references, how complex the story was, just everything.  I'm so glad I bought the books to support an awesome pressing house, and I'm going to recommend this book to everyone and start the rounds of loaning it to all my zombie fan friends.  Nice work!  I can't wait to read your next one.  Thanks for ruling.

Thanks a whole bunch, guys.  I hope you enjoy 1123 as well.

As for what I'm working on now...it's a whole new thing for me.  I've gone international with the new novel.  Think Old West in China/a modern allegory of King Solomon and his encounters with Demons/doppelganger horror novel.  I'm so proud of it!
