Blue he was selectively nice. It depended on what you said to him. When people came up and asked for autographs and photos, he was rude. He called them wankers, etc. and shooed them away. When people came up to talk about something other than blah, he didn't seem to have a problem.
I overheard him being rude and knew what to say. Consequently, those of us who weren't starstruck and didn't gush were offered drinks and the whole nine.
He likes to talk about things he's read in the New York Times and London Times. He's quite political and proud of his Irish sensibilities.
