ahhhh... there's more space available for a story?!   I need to hit the accelerator and finish up my zombie story ...

Sorry, I should clarify. We are no longer accepting submissions, but we aren’t done accepting/rejecting the ones we have; that means those of you who haven’t heard back still have a chance.

I don't want to be nosy, but I am curious.

How many stories will be in The Undead 2?

Also, will we be notified when we are accepted/rejected?

The story I submitted was the first one that I have ever submitted, so even if it isn't accepted I would greatly appreciate some feedback. I know all of the editors are pretty busy so if I don't get any feedback I will certainly understand.

WhoHoo. I sent in the revision of my story, Agent Red, to Permuted for possible inclusion in The Undead Vol. 2.  It was a labor of love, I loved the characters so much that it just pained me when they got into trouble.

We'll let you know how many we have when we're finished.  We go by total word count of the stories not by how many stories.

Also, will we be notified when we are accepted/rejected?

Of course.

Hey, Bret. Just throwing this out there, but if you ever need a test reader, I'd be happy to volunteer. Can't say I'm a publisher or editor, but if you're looking for some honest feedback on a story you can consider me an option. That goes for anyone who's interested, too. Imagine it; a little undead writer's group. ;D

Thanks Matt!  ;D

If the story doesn't make it into the anthology I will make sure and run it by you. I am about 3/4 done with another story so if you are serious about that honest feedback I might get you to take a look at it when I am done.

By the way, I pulled the old Sculpey clay out to help one of my daughters make a bat cave for a school project. I thought about your zombies while I worked on the cave. I wish I would have had half the success with my daughter's bat cave as you had with your zombies.  :-\

I just got a rejection, but it doesn't bother me all that much, so don't worry. Dead's Dawn was written several months ago, so I was kinda iffy about it.

Best of luck to you guys!

In no particular order, here’s the lineup for The Undead: Skin & Bones. There will be sixteen stories and a total word count of 90,000. (If you were accepted but don't see your story, don't worry--all will be revealed.)

“Killing the Witch,” by A.C. Wise
“Food For the Dead,” by Meghan Jurado
“Till the Lord Comes,” by Scott Standridge
“The Wranglers,” by Eric S. Brown
“The Traumatized Generation,” by Murray Leeder
“Ravenous Angels,” by Kiwi Courters
“The Abbot and the Dragon,” by David Dunwoody
“Second Evolution,” by James Kosub
“Something Fishy This Way Comes,” by Joel Sutherland
“Agent Red,” by Philip Hansen
“The Hill,” by Eric Shapiro
“The Finger,” by Matt Hults
“Alive Eye for the Dead Guy,” by Ryan C. Thomas
“Cyclopean,” by David Wellington
“Skin and Bones,” a novella by D.L. Snell
“Roses of Blood on Barbwire Vines,” a novel excerpt by D.L. Snell

Thanks to everyone who participated!

For those of us who were accepted for Undead II but are not on the list above, will we get some notification about our stories? Is my story rejected now, or will my story appear in another anthology at a later date?
