The Undead Vol. 2

Anyone else have a submission in for The Undead Vol. 2?  I submitted a stand-alone story from my zombie novel.

I submitted a comedic zombie tale a la Shaun of the Dead a while back and heard that it was accepted a couple of months ago. This is by far the highlight of my writing career so far!

Speaking of Shaun of the Dead, I was just over in England for a while and some cousins introduced me to one of Simon Pegg's early television shows, Spaced. Has anyone seen it? There are lots of references to Evil Dead, Resident Evil and lots of other zombie-related stuff. Don't know if you can get it on DVD back here in North America, but as we're all zombie lovers, it's definitely worth checking out!

Thanks for giving me the heads up on this forum, Jacob.

I don't have an exact count but I'd estimate we probably had around 400 submissions for THE UNDEAD 2.

Yeah, they circled us slowly and then lunged . . . scariest damn thing ever.  Glad I wasn't bitten.

Anyway, my short story, "Suzy Polenski's Panties" is still under consideration. I know, I know: I'm one of the editors.  That doesn't guarantee anything though . . .

Great new digs, guys!  Thanks for the invite.

I submitted a story called "Spark" to Undead 2.  Had a ball writing it.  Still waiting to hear.

Hey everyone, this forum looks pretty nice!

I'm in the same boat as Scribbler... submitted a piece called "The Tent" with an accompanying illustration... I haven't heard anything back yet one way or the other yet.. but 400 submissions? Dang.. that's a hefty stack of paper..how many will make it into the final book?

Good luck finishing everything up!

Hey everyone, I submitted a story called “What Happened to Farmer Brown’s Cows” and am still waiting to hear back as well.  But, wow, lots of stories to go through!   I can’t wait to see the finished book.

Hello,

I wrote and submitted "Sum of His Parts." I suppose it's still being considered.

Great Forum.

I didn't submit anything.... I am Jack's Burning Shame...

Looking forward to the final result though.  Based on the titles alone it sounds like its going to be a great read.

how many will make it into the final book?

Well, it's a little hard to say.  Tales can vary quite a bit in length (1k-8k words).  I'd say on average the stories we've accepted have been around 5k words and we're going for a total of around 90k.  So that would be about 15 stories plus a novella per anthology.

We're a little slow because everyone involved has a day job so we're only able to work on this stuff in our free time.  But we keep plugging away.  :)

I got one in called "After School Special" but I was in the first one ("Death Row" by James Reilly)so I probably didn't make the cut this go round. Still can't wait to see what the fellas put together with Undead 2!!

I loved the first anthology and I am already salivating for this next installment. Congrats to those who were accepted!

Hi y'all. I just received my acceptance and  contract for 'Memory Bones' this morning -- I'm to be in THE UNDEAD 2... well, that's got me smiling for the rest of the day! And knowing that there were 400 submissions just makes it all the sweeter. ;D

Memory Bones is a great tale, glad to have it.

Agreed.  It's one of those creeping horrors that manages tension and suspense even though it's not action-packed. Very entertaining.
