Question about the novella for U3, Jacob: Are you guys calling for novella submissions, or do you have somebody in mind for that slot already?

We have someone in mind.  Thanks, though!

What's 'A novella' referring to in the 2nd TOC?

The novella that will end up in the anthology but has not yet been accepted.

Jacob, should have a draft in the next few weeks, hopefully (you've got mail by the way, Jacob)

Here is an odd and testy idea, but I think it's honorable and will no doubt stoke the fires of the creative mind. Why not make a contest for the last spot in U3? You can have writers submit their work, but only post the first chapter of each seriously considered tale on a forums post similar to this. Let the veiwers and visitors of the site vote for it, but don't give out the winner's name or story. This way, the accepted story will not have been fully read, creating  suspence for readers eager to discover the rest of the tale. Better yet, readers would be eager to find out which of the tales actually won.  It sounds crazy, I know; but what better way to get fans to the site and more so, to take interest in the printed books. Think about it, such a contest would bring out the best in all involvoed. Peace...Riddle.

Introductions? Afterwords?
« Reply #19 on: November 06, 2006, 07:23:06 AM »

Just a quick question for the Undead editors: do you have anyone in mind/lined up for the intoduction(s) and afterword(s) for the next two anthologies? If so, can you whet our collective appetites, or is it under wraps? I absolutely loved Travis Adkins and Brian Keene's words in the first book. :)

I think Jacob already has someone in mind for the novella spot.  Someone pretty damn good, BTW.

No afterwords this time, just introductions.  D.L. Snell is doing one, we don't know yet on the other.

We should see if Tom Piccirilli or Weston Ochse will write one of the introductions.  Let me know if I should ask them.

Philip, you think Piccirilli would write an intro for my zombie/vampire novel, Roses of Blood on Barbwire Vines? I can forward the intro solicitation to you if you’d be willing to refer me.

Hi all,

Just thought I'd sound off. I'm Steven Cavanagh, author of "Street Smarts" in U3. If you'd like to see what I can do, my story "Finding the Words" recently won the Australian Horror Writers Association's 2006 Flash Fiction Competition. You can read it for free over at Shadowed Realms. I also have a blog if anyone's interested.

Looking forward to getting my clawed, groping hands on Undead!

Steven.

Dude, that's one of the great short-shorts I've ever read!  You've got a touch with words, a skill at narration, a beautiful gift for ideas.

Dying to read your story in U3, man.  I think there are big things in your future.

Thanks for sharing.

Please don't be offended, but I don't think I could ask him to look at a book I wasn't writing.  He posts to Shocklines.com all the time if you want to contact him directly.

Superb story, Steve. As a dad to a five-year-old girl, it really touched a nerve. I doubt I'll ever forget your story.

It'll be an honour to share an antho with you, sir!  :)

That's a fantastic piece of writing, Steve! You're a very talented guy and I'm looking forward to reading your story in U3. If you have time you should consider writing a short piece for the Fried! anthology I'm working on (www.freewebs.com/deadpagespress/) Welcome to the board!
