WALKING DEAD
« on: June 09, 2012, 02:10:04 PM »

Available on Steam. I've just spend 25 Euro on it, according to STORE tab note: "Gain access to the full season [5 episodes] of The Walking Dead with this purchase", but other 4 episodes are not-ready-yet.

Anyway - title is pretty much self explanatory. Game type? I would say adventure, closely related to comic book (just like LOST: VIA DOMUS was related to LOST). There is some walking, exploring, thinking involved. Also many moments when you have to think fast and act faster. I think action is taking place before Rick wakes up, but game itself is not about comic book characters (with some quest appearances - Hershel and Glenn). You are a Afroamerican bloke called Lee - on your way to the can for killing your wife's lover. Patrol car collides with strange person on the road and you are alone, wounded in a world that went to shit.

Decent graphic, stylised to a comic book a little. But it's not Left for Dead or Resident Evil. You will need some patience and brains to get out alive. Some tough choices along the way and of course walkers on your tail. A nice change compared to all those Rambo-like characters who are blowing up shit and razing zeds from automatic weapons. Only chapter 1 is ready as far as I know, it took me exactly 2,5 hours to beat it bagging all 8 achievements on Steam and dying only one time.

Some nice, juicy bits there!

Recommended for die-hard fans, you may wait until it will be either cheaper or next episodes will be ready. 2,5 hours is freaking nothing. I was playing on my laptop with X-box controlled plugged in, I don't think any other gaming style is worth trying (I mean keyboard and mouse).

Do we know yet whether they'll release this as one single game, after all the installments/episodes have been released?

Yes, I'd read The Zombie Survival Guide as many times as the next guy, but my whole Z-Plan revolved around -not- getting close enough to the deadheads in order to fight them in hand-to-hand combat. No thanks. Just stay the hell away and put one between their eyes from a safe distance.

I've read somewhere that it will be one episode every 1-1,5 month. Second should be released at end of June, so I guess by X-mas time you will be able to buy whole lot in one go. Steam will automatically download new episodes once they are available. Can't wait!

Second episode indeed was released at end of June. Due to hols I had to wait 3 weeks before I had a chance to play. They've jumped over the bar set up by first episode. It's intense, it's gory, it's fecking awesome.

Finished episode 3. Still under impression. There is such a variety of emotions here. 3 out of 5 chapters behind me and I already hope they will make other series with new characters.

Here is my gallery on the internet - it should give you a clue what is going on in the game:

How are they doing it? 4th episode lives up to high standards of the series and heralds grim ending of this installment (at least for some). Only one episode left - I can't wait for grand finale but on the other hand I will be really sad to end this experience. All those involved in creating Telltale game - you guys rocks and you know what all this is about. It's not about zombies or guts and blood, it's about dying or surviving when something dies inside you. It's about making friends in extreme situations and - in one second - choosing which one of them dies.

Fifth, last episode available.
Now in promo price on steam -50% off. Whoever was undecided - go grab it!

Description of fifth episode in a nutshell - like getting shot in the face from double barreled shotgun. It's short, intense, and you will feel it :)
