How to join THE PIT Writers' Group
« on: July 22, 2007, 09:18:27 PM »

THE PIT Writers' Group is open to all who are willing to abide by its rules (in short, critique the appropriate number of stories every 2 weeks).  If you'd like to join THE PIT please do the following:

1. Read the rules for the group.
2. Address any questions to the moderator (contact@permutedpress.com) before requesting to join.
3. If you have not already, register as a user on the Permuted Press forum.
4. Send your request to join including your real name, your forum username, and the email address you'd like added to THE PIT mailing list to the moderator (contact@permutedpress.com) with the subject "Writer's Group Membership Request."

Once you are approved for membership you must critique at least one of the works posted for the current critique cycle.  After that point you must abide by the critique ratio presented in the group rules.

I did this but no response I figured this is only something you can get into if you work for Permuted Press?

Jacob's been really busy recently, so I expect he just hasn't gotten round to doing whatever it is that has to be done. It isn't a super-seekrit elite club. Or, so we are told anyway ;)

Most of the Pitters are published, but it's not a prerequisite. Just as well, else I'd be out on my ear :)

Ple-ease!  They let me in somehow and all I have published is an obscure form of Japanese poetry    For some reason though, I thought you were already in it?  Maybe an e-mail just got lost or is in a spam folder?

ETA:  You ARE in PIT in name, so maybe it just wasn't unlocked for you?  We have welcome notices at the same time AND above your name it has the blackhole of the PIT, so, uhm, technical difficulties most likely!

Sgambino, you ARE setup as a member of the Pit!

I'm terribly sorry if you didn't get an email confirmation.  I could swear that when i submitted your info that I sent an email.  I might have missed it.  I'm sorry!

Sgambino, you are totally on the rolls for the Pit.

Being a member of the Pit has NO requirement for being published one way or the other.  One of the main intents of the group is to help those so inclined to get better, to get good so that they can get published.  By leveraging each other's strengths, we can help each other, published or not to get better in what we love to do.

Again, Sgambino, I'm sorry you didn't get a message stating that you are part of the group!  You totally are.

PS: I received your query email to the PitMod and as soon as I saw that I jumped on here to let you know what's what.  (I'm usually well occupied on Sundays, otherwise you would have received a response even sooner!)

Let me know if you have any questions.  You should be able to see the threads in which the Pit is placed.

I should be used to waiting by now.  You know, the weeks and months (and sometimes forever/never) between writer query and agent/publisher reply.

But this forum has been so wonderfully responsive.  You have me quite spoiled, already.

Just to report that I am patiently waiting to get to work.  I have years of dream workshop experience.  Your rules are very familiar.  I have also done the brutal honesty creative writing semester thing a few times.  A youthful indiscretion.  There is no need for a public humiliation of anyone, but sometimes a word in private between peers can be helpful...  Be that as it may be.  I am a follower of rules if the game is worth playing.

I do apologise for seeming pushy.  No doubt everyone has a lot going on.  I know I do.

Thanks.

Frank, have you tried to join the pit and not heard back?  If that isn't resolved today a note to Zombie Zak either through PM or the pitmod@permutedpress.org should clear things right up.

I have applied, but not long ago.
Maybe the weekend was not the best time...

I'll follow your suggestions if I don't have an answer by the end of the day, tomorrow.

Thanks.

Monsieur Frank!

Your request to join was indeed received!  It's in my zombie bucket!

It is going through our intensive intestinal fortitude checking device as we speak (yeah, that machine over there that goes "poing" that's it).

You shall hear from us shortly, or even sooner than then!  Errr, or something like that.

The machine that goes "poing"...?

That's the most expensive machine in the hospital, is it not?
