SUPER SECRET PROJECT IV update thread
« on: March 22, 2012, 12:57:22 AM »

. . . not yet. i'm just setting up right now. i'll be tracking my daily and weekly progress, like i did when writing Lords of Night. i found it a great motivational tool to do so. i had also posted snippets of what i was working on, but i don't know if that'll happen here.

work starts on Monday. watch this space; updates on Friday.

2150 words this morning. half-written chapters 1 and 2 are now fully-written chapters 1 and 2. i'm in the groove already, but unfortunately, fleshing out chapters takes me longer than writing them from scratch, so these first few days will be a little draggy.

there should be somewhere around forty chapters? i think. i don't know what the goal is, only more than 75k and less than 125k. ayuh.

WEEKLY TALLY: 13,169

HI: the 28th, with 3,563 words
LO: the 30th, with 1,300 words

the book sits at 26,865, so i'm just behind my worthy oppponent. i still have one more day of writing available to me this "week" (the Excel program is grouped Sunday to Saturday) but i usually take weekends off. we shall see.

first act is finished, if still a little short of the targeted count. HYAR!!!

what's the use of an update thread if i'm not updating?

just put the period at the end of the first draft of the second act. wordcount sits at 33.5k, which is kind of a let down, since it's already Wednesday. THURSDAY, holy shit, it's Thursday. the last couple of days have been pretty fucking slow.

WEEKLY TALLY: 8,900

HI: the 6th, with 2,248 words
LO: the 4th, with 900 words

sigh. this week feels like a bust. but, the book sits at 36K, so we're doing well. while i'm tackling Act II, my worthy opponent is working on Act III. so this might come out very quickly, indeed. well, the first draft, hah.

seeing as how this week was shite, i'll probably be working on this while i travel this weekend, and some more while i'm at home, breaking with tradition. ayuh.

WEEKLY TALLY: 9,800

HI: the 11th, with 2,280 words
LO: the 7th, with 1060 words

typical for a first week back on the rig, and the project sits at 48K overall, so three more weeks with more than or equal to output will see (the first draft of) this book done. i'm back in the swing, with a new playlist of awesome bands i should have been listening to before. highlight albums are:

8-Point Rose - Primigenia
Cage - Astrology
Angel Dust - Bleed
Icarus With - Capture the Magic
Fireball Ministry - Their Rock is Not Our Rock

viva la new music!

i hadn't either, but a guy that worked here a while back had an obscene amount of rock and metal on his hard drive, so i copied all of it. slowly, i'm making my way through the scads and scads of bands and albums, putting lots of it on my shiny new iPod, and chucking the cookie-monster stuff, hah.

there is a lot of tried-and-true stuff being played, as well. like so:

Corrosion of Conformity - In the Arms of God
Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare
Bruce Dickinson - The Chemical Wedding
Black Label Society - Order of the Black
The Fading Collection - Interactive Family Radio

Not quite I'm thinking. You may have an email with a "sample" when I figure out a good one. They have quite bit of their work on the Utubulous.
