Expect to see this on the big screen for Christmas 2017.   ;)

Nonsense...we'll all be dead by then. The modern Westerners who interpret the Mayans say so.

One key thing they pointed out which I'm mildly ashamed of.

Don't know if it's the same thing or not, but I would think that even in a non-live soldier future, not to expect a battleship to house an artificial intelligence named Patton.  Just isn't done.  Rickover, maybe...

Sent the treatment in to Amazon today.  Now I think I have two or three weeks before I hear which of the five they pick.

Ahhh, just got the news.  Amazon Studios decided to go with a different writer for the screenplay.  I still got paid for my treatment, but this is as far as I go on Original Soldiers.

I'm a bit sad, but not really heartbroken.  I really would've liked the money, but my heart wasn't in this project and I know it's probably a much bigger thing for the other writers.  So now one of them gets the break they've been dreaming of... and I get to focus on Ex-Communication without this hanging over my head.

Does that mean the AMZN Empire owns your idea now?  You can't take it elsewhere and/or develop it independently?

They own the treatment, yes, but they also came up with the original idea and they paid very handsomely for my take on it (do kids still say "very handsomely"...?).

This definitely is not some case of "oh, poor me, they conned me out of my ideas and I got nothing."  They were great, I'm better off, we're all happy.  Really, if I broke it down to an hourly rate, there's a strong argument to be made that I took advantage of Amazon.

And I'm okay with that.  :)

blargh, sucks!  still, glad it was overall a positive experience.  And does it make me selfish that i'm glad you'll have more time to spend on Ex-Communication...?  ;)

Well, sad to hear you didn't get it, I think it would have been great. On the other hand, and I'm with Mrs Rakie here - you'll finally get off your behind and finish Ex-Communication - which is awesome!!!

Seriously, I was hoping this would have gone all the way for you, but sometimes you only get to second base and the date is over.  :-*
