2011 writing recap.
« on: January 15, 2012, 09:15:50 PM »

i think 2011 was a good year for me. breaking it down:

Lords of Night: 107,000
SSPIII (with DL Snell): 74,500
Sad Wings of Destiny (to complete): 45,000
Before the Dawn  (so far): 15,000
"Mass Murder Machine": 7,600
"Among the Living": 3,800
"Play the Game": 3,300
"True Believers": 7,300
"At Dawn They Sleep": 12,000
"Dog Eat Dog": 6,750
"Blood Red": 3,650
"Spirit in Black": 3,300

so this year's total was somewhere under 300K words, which isn't too bad. two of the books and four of the short stories are slated to be published. not too many short stories that i'd have liked, but i'm very happy with the novels.

What about Survivors? I know you did a bunch of writing/rewriting there as well. I lurk everywhere.

two things about that:

1) Survivors writin' was in 2010, except for whatever i wrote in the first week of January, which is probably negligible.
2) how much i actually wrote on that book is a secret. nobody knows but me, the family and Permuted. so, convenient.

I could have sworn you wrote a bunch this year - but I respect what you have to say there. I still have it on pre-order and June won't get here fast enough.

i don't know if i forgot this (because i can't remember if we wrote it in 2010 or 2011) but there's also about half of "Tempus Fugitive" with Rob Pegler.

Yes, I'd read The Zombie Survival Guide as many times as the next guy, but my whole Z-Plan revolved around -not- getting close enough to the deadheads in order to fight them in hand-to-hand combat. No thanks. Just stay the hell away and put one between their eyes from a safe distance.

Since you had to rewrite my ending, I think you can claim 60% on that one.

(Though I'm fairly certain it was 2010.)
