If I die in this town there will be hell to pay.

And a horde of zombies who shall sweep the town away into dust and decrepitude ...

a bit redundant, this is a town of dust and decrepitude.  Sigh.

But the zombies will wipe the slate clean!

So, I was crossing the street.

On campus.

At the flashing light and sign that says 'crosswalk'

And I'm halway across, a car is STOPPED which is why I felt safe.

It revs up and starts at me, WTF?  But then it stops again halfway to me.

Idiots.

I was going to suggest that you start packing twin Peacemakers on you in some nice tooled leather belts, but then I remembered where you work. So maybe a nice "walking stick" to help you around?

I need someone to buy me this:  http://wren-industrial-storage-equipment.amazonwebstore.com/SIGNSSTOP-FOR-PEDESTRIAN-IN-CROSS-WALK/M/B00526J3GO.htm?traffic_src=froogle&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=froogle

I will put it on a stick and carry it with me when I cross the streets.

I can afford the pink hardhats listed on that page, but the sign is a little out of budget right now.  But I I held that up while I crossed each street there'd be no excuses for these idiots, except that they're idiots.

Plus, it's reflective!

Anchor it firmly to a sturdy stick, it makes a great improvised axe too!

How could I have left this languish for so long!

So yesterday, crossing the street, woman makes a right turn doesn't slow down and really almost gets me.  I stop (deer instinct, also, just shy of her) and hold out my hand like that will help but she had already stopped too - I see she's got cell phone to ear as she watches me cross, I keep my hand out to her the entire time until I was across.

I've decided to buy an airhorn.

And an explosive cushioning device ...

Yes, I'd read The Zombie Survival Guide as many times as the next guy, but my whole Z-Plan revolved around -not- getting close enough to the deadheads in order to fight them in hand-to-hand combat. No thanks. Just stay the hell away and put one between their eyes from a safe distance.

I believe the vehicle operator heard her snark alarm go off and stopped immediately. Some of those smart phones have some crazy apps.

Too bad there's not an app that interrupts your conversation to yell "PAY ATTENTION YOU BLOODY MORON YOU'RE ABOUT TO KILL SOMEONE MAYBE EVEN YOUR OWN STUPID SELF" when you get so wrapped up in the damned phone you forget there's a real world going on around you.

Dude, I said crazy apps, not smart ones. Nor does it help that most phones are way smarter than the operators. Hmm, an auto shutoff app when more than 5 "like, you knows" are said or 1 "i'm driving, hold on" might be an idea there. ;D

I beleive tehre's one for teens that shuts the phone off when it feels it is in motion (like in a car) to curb teen texting and driving.  It should be MANDATORY in all phones.

I have had to do the hand move a LOT lately, damn cars, I think the motion makes them see me.  But really, i walk with a giant parasol that should be really visible.  if they weren't on their phones, that is.
