Carrie Vaccaro Nelkin

Carrie Vaccaro Nelkin was born in Italy, grew up just outside New York City, and lived in a couple of spooky Brooklyn brownstones before moving to a life where she made her own excitement. She works as an editor in technical publishing and has belonged for more than 20 years to a writing group called The Penheads. Her short fiction has appeared in Rose Red Review, Fiction Vortex, Bards and Sages Quarterly, Absent Willow Review, the anthology Skulls & Crossbones: Tales of Women Pirates, and The Penheads’ own anthology Hunger: Stories of Desire, Discovery, and Dissatisfaction. Some of Carrie’s poetry has been published in Shadow Road Quarterly, Rose & Thorn Journal, Golden Sparrow Literary Review (which nominated her for a 2011 Pushcart Prize), and Piedmont Literary Review. She lives with her husband, a perceptive cat, and a dog with multiple personalities (and voices).
